Field Day!

We are excited to announce that Field Day operations will take place on June 22nd and 23rd, 2024. However, this year, MARC will not be gathering at the Elementary Park located in Fallowfield Township as we have in the past. The ARRL continues to allow individual stations to work from home and claim their Field Day contacts under a club call sign. Therefore, members of the W3CSL club can operate from home while still contributing to the club's contact totals if they choose to do so.

Members of the W3CSL club can use their own call signs while making contacts. When submitting contacts to the ARRL, ensure they are listed as being for "Monessen Amateur Radio Club." Members have 30 days to submit their Field Day contacts. The link for the ARRL submission form can be found [Here].

Looking ahead, we are already planning for Field Day 2025, where we anticipate restarting the tradition of gathering at the Elementary Park in Fallowfield. In the meantime, we have provided a link to a Field Day logging software that simplifies the process of submitting contacts to the ARRL[Click Here.]. While members are not required to use this software, it is available for those who prefer it. Alternatively, contacts can be submitted directly to Andrew Wrublesky at the provided link for submission to the ARRL[Click Here.], or members can submit their contacts themselves. We look forward to a successful Field Day 2024 and reuniting in person next year! Please Be Sure To Check Out All Links Provided Below.

Field Day is an annual amateur radio event where operators set up temporary stations and make as many contacts as possible within a 24-hour period. It's an opportunity to practice emergency communication skills and to enjoy a shared hobby. To complete a Field Day contact, you need to exchange three pieces of information: the call sign, the class (which indicates the number of transmitters in operation and the nature of the station), and the section (which indicates the geographical area). You can find more information about the different classes [Here] and a list of sections [Here]. Field Day can be operated on all amateur bands, ensuring a wide range of contact opportunities.
